Although the regionally sold Parker Poland 800 Pilothouse is built in Europe, the concept, design, and execution appear particularly appropriate for sport fishing in the Salish Sea. Parker Poland should not be confused with the Parker brand of offshore fishing boats built in North Carolina. At 28’, the Parker Poland 800 Pilothouse is large enough to be comfortable afloat and compact enough to be easily trailered.
The deep-V hull can ride out sloppy seas and is outfitted with a pair of 200-horsepower Mercury outboards that will provide a good turn of speed. Parker Poland Pilothouse owners can look forward to arriving quickly at the fishing grounds, or early enough in the day to probably snag a buoy at a marine state park. Yes, one can poke along at speeds most likely to conserve fuel and extend range, but there’s plenty of speed available when desired.

Built with the fisherman in mind, the Parker Poland 800 Pilothouse has a roomy cockpit. The cockpit seats, desirable when lounging around and socializing, all fold up out of the way to maximize the space available for working the rods and nets when the bite is on. A nonslip teak-effect deck covering in the cockpit and on the side decks well help maintain sure footing in wet conditions. Because the Parker Poland 800 is outboard-powered, there is abundant space for stowage below the cockpit.
A power windlass, anchor roller, and chain locker are at the foredeck, where an optional bow thruster is just below the waterline. A handy LED spotlight is mounted on the roof.
Access to the pilothouse is through a starboard door, and there’s also an aft bulkhead door available as well. Deluxe seating for both a helmsman and a navigator provide plenty of visibility. The starboard helm is surrounded by ample room to install an entire suite of navigational electronics. A serving table, mounted on an arm, swings out of the way when quick passage between the helm and the cockpit is desired. A molded fixture contains a kitchenette, with a single-burner stove, sink, and a refrigerated drawer.

Forward, through a companionway door, there’s a fully enclosed wet head. The Parker 800 Pilothouse comes standard with a manually pumped head, as well as a hand sink.
One indicator that this boat was designed by somebody with some practical experience? Parker Poland offers an optional second helm, on the starboard side of the aft bulkhead door. Why two helms on a 28’ boat? Because with a second wheel, the helmsman can very easily participate in fishing. No running back and forth from the helm to the cockpit. Nobody needs to “give up fishing” to run the boat. In fact, nobody should be forced to give up much of anything at all with a Parker Poland 800 Pilothouse.
A locally available example of the Parker Poland 800 Pilothouse is offered by Salish Boats in Anacortes. Equipped with Simrad navigation electronics, Bluetooth audio system, aft deck shower, and raw water washdown, trim tabs, windlass, bow thruster, and far more, the boat is listed at $184,500 and was impressively discounted from that for a “Boat Show Special”.
